A display-cum-sale counter for the jail manufactured products will be set up within the government department on an area measuring 6x8 feet, free of cost.
"Secretariat is a prime government department. Its is a major recognition and appreciation for our jail manufactured products from the state government," Tihar DIG Mukesh Prasad said.
The space has been allotted in the Secretariat cafeteria next to the existing Amul kiosk. It will have ready to eat commodities up for sale and other items for display.
Prasad said that the money earned from the sale will go to the bakery fund of the jail.
Apart from the bakery products Tihar also produces handloom and textile products, apparel, furniture, mustard oil, recycled hand-made paper products, paintings, designer candles and lamps, jute bags, herbal products and many more items which are manufactured by the prison inmates in Tihar Jail Factory.
In the first week of July, Tihar had opened its Food Court- a multi cuisine restaurant, 200 metres away from the central prison, which has also been a great success, Prasad added.
