Opener Satyam Choudhary scored an unbeaten century to help Madhya Pradesh reach 282 for three in their first innings against Railways on the opening day of a Group B Ranji Trophy match here today.
Choudhary scored 19 boundaries in his 281-ball unfinished innings at the Holkar Cricket Stadium here. Mohnish Mishra cracked 97 in his 146-ball innings, which was studded with 14 fours and three sixes.
For Railways, Hardik Rathod, Karn Sharma, Krishnakant Upadhyay took one wicket each.
Earlier, Choudhary and Jalaj Saxena (33) added 52 runs for the opening wicket after Railways won the toss and elected to field.
Saxena was the first to lose his wicket when he was caught by wicket-keeper M G Rawat of Hardik Rathod's bowling.
First down batsman Z M Ali took the crease then and tried to spend some time but his 13 over stay was cut short by Upadhyay when he had the batsman caught behind to reduce Madhya Pradesh to 71 for two.
Choudhary and Mishra then didn't give much opportunity to the Railway bowlers and piled up 179 runs in 50.1 overs.
But Mishra was then dismissed by Sharma with just 13 overs more to go for the day. He was also caught behind by Rawat as MP slipped to 250 for three.
Skipper Devendra Bundela then took the crease and along with Choudhary added another 32 runs before the stumps were drawn for the day.
Brief Score:
Madhya Pradesh 1st innings: 282-3 in 90 overs (S D Choudhary 127 not out; H R Rathod 1/32).
