Christmas celebrated in Nagaland

Christmas was celebrated today throughout Nagaland as believers offered prayers for peace and unity in the Naga society.
People in new clothes visited friends and relatives, extended greetings, offered cakes and held midnight services in churches and colonies as the sky lit up with fire crackers bursting from midnight.
The rural areas too were illuminated with decorations for the festive season to culminate on the New Year.
Nagaland Governor P B Acharya in his message on the occasion of Christmas, said "the spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love and generosity and of goodness."
"It also reflects a dedication to helping those in need, to giving hope to one in despair and to spread peace," he said.
Chief Minister T R Zeliang extended best wishes and hoped that "the birth of the Prince of Peace would usher in the dawn of peace, goodwill and harmony in individuals and society.
