During routine checking of barracks, a mobile handset was recovered from an inmate yesterday which led to the clash between jail guards and inmates, they said.
Police said that checking was being done on regular basis after five mobile phones and psychotropic substance was recovered during late night raid on Tuesday last.
A jail guard Suryakant Upadhyaya and two inmates were injured in the clash.
Later, District Magistrate Bhanuchandra Goswami and Superintendent of Police Bharat Singh Yadav reached the spot along with heavy force and controlled the situation.
