Beverages major Coca Cola Company today said it posted double-digit unit case volume growth in India for the first quarter ended April 3, 2015.
The firm posted a 3 per cent unit case volume growth in Asia Pacific region helped by double digit growth in India.
A unit case is equal to 24 eight-ounce servings of the finished beverage, whereas unit case volume means the number of unit cases of company beverages sold to customers.
In a statement, the company said: "Unit case volume growth reflected double-digit growth in India and low single-digit growth in China, partially offset by a low single-digit decline in Japan."
The US-based company, which announced its global earnings for the first quarter, reported 1 per cent unit case volume growth and net operating revenue of USD 10.71 billion.
Its net operating revenue in the Asia Pacific region in the first quarter stood at USD 1.29 billion.
Commenting on the company's bottling investment, Coca Cola said: "Comparable currency neutral income before taxes outpaced organic revenue growth primarily due to the continued strong performance by our company-owned bottling operations in several markets including Germany, India and Vietnam."
Yesterday, Tamil Nadu government cancelled allotment of 71.34 acres of land for Coca Cola's bottling plant project following stiff opposition from locals, agriculturists and political parties.
