"Because of financial assistance given by the government and growing awareness, the capacity of cold storages in the state will increase to 20 lakh tonne from the existing 10 lakh tonne," Madhya Pradesh Cold Chain Industry Association President, Hasmukh Jain Gandhi told reporters.
He said, at present there are 200 cold storages in Madhya Pradesh and among them, 150 units are in the western part of the state.
Gandhi also said that with the implementation of GST, the state would get benefited because of its geographical location and the storage capacity too would increase.
Gandhi said on December 16-17, "India Cold Chain Expo-2016" will be organised here during which 70 companies from world-over having expertise in the sector would demonstrate their products.
