"The country is passing through a serious economic crisis and, due to the wrong policies of the Centre, the situation has worsened over the last three years," stated the resolution tabled at SP's two-day national executive meet by the party's national general secretary, Ramgopal Yadav.
The GDP has dropped from 7.2 per cent in 2010 to around 4 per cent this fiscal, it said.
"We have coal stock for the next 100 years but, in the last few years, import of coal to the tune of hundreds of crores of rupees has been done. This is all due to economic mismanagement of the UPA government," it said.
The party also expressed concern over the slow growth rate in the agricultural sector.
In light of the recent Telangana decision, SP said that carving out small states "was no guarantee of development".
Turning to BJP, the resolution alleged that with Lok Sabha polls round the corner, the party was trying to spark communal tensions.
"Recently, under the cover of VHP, communal organisations like BJP, RSS and Bajrang Dal tried to damage communal harmony in Uttar Pradesh in the name of the 84-Kosi Parikrama," the resolution stated even as it congratulated Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for having foiled the designs of the communal forces.
"It is clear that parties other than Congress and BJP will hold the key to power," it said adding that, "after Lok Sabha elections, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would have an important role" to play.
