"Congress and the NC are responsible for the apathy of refugees in J&K," BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna said here while distributing relief material to refugees from West Pakistan.
He claimed these refugees still had not been given permanent citizenship despite living in India since its independence.
Accompanied by state BJP president Jugal Kishore Sharma, Khanna claimed refugees from West Pakistan were worst victims of human rights violation as they had no right to seek education or employment, own land and right to exercise franchise in the state assembly and panchayat elections.
About 1.5 lakh West Pakistan refugees, residing along the Indo-Pak border in R S Pura, Suchetgarh, Bishnah, Samba, Hiranagar and Akhnoor constituencies, are living in sub-human conditions in mud house without basic amenities.
