Amid pick up in demand at the domestic spot market and a firm trend overseas, copper prices traded higher by 0.64 per cent to Rs 467.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June rose by Rs 2.95, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 467.10 per kg in a business turnover of 302 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by Rs 2.75, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 461.50 per kg in 2013 lots.

Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to an uptick in demand from consuming industries in the physical market and a firm trend overseas.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three-month rose 0.6 per cent to USD 7,033.00 per metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
