Copper gains on firm demand, global cues

Copper prices gained further at the non-ferrous metal market here today on sustained stockists buying driven by higher London Metal Exchange (LME) cues.
While, Tin and brass weakened following subdued offtake from consumer industries.
The Industrial metal, copper rose in early trade on moderate shortcovering, while Shanghai copper jumped nearly three percent boosted by hopes of increased stimulus from government from the world's second biggest economy.
Copper sheet cutting spurted by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 405 from last Friday's close of Rs 400 and copper utensils scrap climbed by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 390 from Rs 386.
Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper armiture and copper wire bar moved up by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 418, Rs 414, Rs 408, Rs 438 as against Rs 416, Rs 412, Rs 406 and Rs 436 previously.
Lead inched up by a Re per kg to Rs 135.
However, tin dropped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,460 from Rs 1,465 and Brass utensils scrap slid by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 307 as compared to Rs 311 last weekend.
Brass sheet cutting also edged down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 318 from Rs 320 previously.
