Copra prices surge on heavy stockists offtake, low supply

Copra Rajapur prices flared up at the spices market here today due to heavy demand from bulk consumers and stockists supported by limited arrivals.
Copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode also rallied on the back of higher millers offtake.
Amid a robust domestic as well as export demand against the backdrop of acute shortage of copra owing to shortfall in production are likely to keep prices firm in near future, a trader commented.
Copra Rajapur Mumbai jumped by Rs 1000 per quintal to Rs 15,000 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 14,000.
Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode both spurted by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 10,700 and Rs 10,600 respectively, as compared to last weekend's level of Rs 10,600 and Rs 10,500.
Copra edible Mumbai, black pepper, ginger bleached and unbleched held steady in the absence of necessary buying support.
