A couple in their 40s was found dead under mysterious circumstances in their residence here last night.
The deceased have been identified as Rohit Vataal (47), who hailed from Kashmir, and his wife Rashmi (43).
Police said that Rashmi's body was found lying on the floor with her throat slit while Rohit's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan with his wrist slit at their rented accommodation in Noida's Sector 12 area.
"As per initial investigation, it seems Rohit killed his wife and then committed suicide. Doors were locked from inside and we have got two suicide notes. One is for their landlady and second is for their relatives," Senior Superintendent of Police Preetinder Singh told PTI.
Rohit was working as a medical representative at a leading private company in Noida, investigators said, adding that the the suicide notes did not blame anybody for the extreme step.
According to police, the incident came to light when the neighbours and the landlady rang the door bell several times last night but nobody responded.
Police said the landlady had switched on the water pump and had rang the doorbell to ask Rashmi to check whether the tank is filled but she got no response.
She even didn't reply to the phone calls following which the landlady went to the third floor around 10.30 PM where the couple lived and found the door locked from inside.
Then she along with some other neighbours called police who broke open the door only to find the bodies of the couple.
"Forensic team has picked up the evidence from the spot. Police are questioning the couple's relatives for some leads in the case and further investigation is on," Singh said, adding reports of autopsy are still awaited.
