A Delhi court has granted transit anticipatory bail to a woman, who along with a self-styled religious figure is facing charges of rape and extortion by her sister-in-law.
The court granted the relief to the woman, a South Delhi resident, for two weeks asking her to approach a court in Jaipur where the rape case was registered and apply for bail there.
"In the facts and circumstances of the case especially in view of the limited nature of the relief claimed, applicant (woman) is admitted to transit anticipatory bail for two weeks, subject to her filing personal bond and surety bond in the sum of Rs one lakh with one surety in the like amount to the satisfaction of the investigating officer/SHO concerned with the condition that she shall join the investigation as and when required by the investigating agency," Additional Sessions Judge A K Jain said.
The woman was made an accused, along with self-styled religious figurehead Rajnish Grover alias Ashok Kumar and others, in a rape and extortion case filed by her husband's 22-year-old sister, who had alleged that the man had sexually assaulted her and her mother by giving them intoxicating biscuits as 'prasad'.
An FIR was registered in the matter at Jawahar Circle Police Station in Rajasthan's Jaipur East district on July 3.
Advocate Vijay Aggarwal, who appeared for the accused woman, sought transit anticipatory bail claiming she was falsely implicated in the case and it was a "counter blast" by her sister-in-law as she has already filed a complaint against her in-laws in Delhi.
He sought relief for his client to enable her join investigation and do other formalities for approaching the competent court in Jaipur.
The prosecutor argued that this court had no jurisdiction to grant any relief as the FIR was lodged in Jaipur.
