A complaint in this regard was filed by Indore-based trader Vipul Singhai alleging that the cops attached with Niwri police station embezzled jewellery and cash that was being carried by him at the time of the mishap on March 7 last year.
Singhai said that he had been carrying 82 kg of silver jewellery and over Rs five lakh in cash in his car.
He said the cops, including then police station in-charge Gopal Singh Parihar and three constables Ritesh Mishra, Atal Pateria and Kuldeep Singh took custody of the jewellery and cash from his vehicle after they were informed about the accident.
However, while filing the report in this regard the cops mentioned recovering jewellery weighing 49.5 kg only and did not mention anything about the remaining valuables as well as the cash, he said.
Singhai had then reported the matter to Sagar Range Inspector General (IG) of Police who then directed Chattarpur SP P S Bisht to probe the matter.
Singhai then approached Niwari court against the policemen, following which the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Pradip Kushwaha issued arrest warrant against them yesterday.
