Court rejects closure report of SIT in Shanawaz murder case

A local court has rejected the SIT closure report which gave clean chit to the six accused in connection with Shahnawaz murder case during the 2013 riots in the district.
On a petition filed by the father of deceased youth, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunder Lal reopened the case against the six accused and fixed December 9 for recording the statement of the complainantin the case.
Shahnawaz's father had challenged the report of SIT probing the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, alleging that the probe agency had illegally filed closure report in the case.
The SIT had given clean chit to the six accused - Prehlad, Visham, Devend, Jitender, Yogender and Pravender, saying that they were not found involved.
While two other accused - Gaurav and Sachin - who were found involved in Shahnawaz's murder were killed by a mob at Kawal village in the district.
Shahnawaz was stabbed to death in the village here on August 27, 2013.
