Based on specific information, the Commissioner's Task Force, East Zone Team, busted the inter-state cricket betting racket and yesterday arrested the accused, Dinesh Agarwal, after raiding his house at Puranapul here, they said.
"A sum of Rs 1.79 lakh, along with two multi-line equipment suitcases containing 29-cell phones, used in the racket were seized from his possession," a release from Hyderabad Police said today.
"He used to get updates of betting rates over phone from one Agarwal from Delhi on his phone on a commission basis. He (the arrested accused) used to pay Rs 6,000 per month to Agarwal for providing updates of match betting ratio information on cell phone," the release added.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused from Delhi, it said.
