In the one-day special Assembly session to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation and women's safety today, the Aam Aadmi Party government tabled a resolution to set up a commission of enquiry, which will include a judge, to recommend action in cases of crime against women in the city.
The proposal was tabled by Women and Child, and Social Welfare Minister Sandeep Kumar.
Soon after the resolution was tabled, BJP MLAs trooped into the well of the House and termed it as "illegal".
BJP MLAs threw copies of the resolution and walked out of the Assembly. BJP has three MLAs in the 70-member House.
The decision to hold the special Assembly session came amid escalating confrontation between AAP Government and Delhi Police, following the brutal murder of a 19-year-old girl in Anand Parbat area on July 16.
The special session was scheduled for July 28, but it was postponed following the death of former President A P J Abdul Kalam.
