Dalits attacked by upper caste group in Maha village
Press Trust of India Mumbai At least ten Dalits were beaten up at Ansurda village in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra allegedly by a group of people belonging to upper caste.
The incident took place yesterday.
Osmanabad district superintendent of police Abhishek Trimukhe told PTI over phone that 16 people were arrested and a case had been registered at Bebli police station.
Dalits in the village refused to vote for a particular panel in the local panchayat election which apparently led to the attack, police said.
One of the injured persons, who was in a serious condition, is being treated at a government hospital in Osmanabad.
