The cows, belonging to two farmers in Pungampalayam, about 40 KMs from here, died one by one, in a gap of 15 to 20 minutes, while they were grazing, police said.
A cow had died under mysterious circumstances a few days ago in the area and the death of four cows, three milche and another one-and-half year old calf, caused panic, police said.
Officials from Animal Husbandry department here have reached the spot to carry out post mortem of the cows to ascertain the cause of the death, official sources said.
