With the induction of the new fleet, the total number of ambulances available with the Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) has gone up to 101. Fifty more ambulances will be added soon.

A new emergency toll-free number -- 102 -- has also been launched for calling ambulance.

Flagging off the ambulances along with Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said all the ambulances have GPS devices and their operation will monitored from a state-of-the-art control room which will function round-the-clock.

The control room has been connected with police control room and fire control room.

Azad appreciated the effort of Delhi government in ramping up medical infrastructure in the city. (more)
