The 'Assembly Games' project, billed as a first-of-its- kind, will begin in Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's Patparganj constituency on September 7 and is likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Various sports such as Kho Kho, Kabbadi, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Boxing, Tug-of-war, boxing and athletics would be part of the event which will continue till September 14 at the Sports Complex at East Vinod Nagar.
Singh said the event has generated considerable buzz in the constituency and more than 6,000 application forms, worth Rs 5 each, have already been sold. "We have priced it at Rs 5 to avoid frivolous entries."
The events have been categorised for children under the age of 12 years, 14 years, 17 years and 19 years respectively. There is a separate segment for people who are aged above 19 years.
An individual would be entitled to participate in one team game, two athletic events and one individual event like boxing, table tennis, chess etc.
