Lawyers in Delhi will now be charged under the residential tariff bracket for power consumption at their official chambers in courts, the Delhi government said today.
The connections will continue to be in the commercial bracket, but the government will offset the gap by extending subsidies, power minister Satyendar Jain told reporters.
The decision was taken by the Delhi government's Cabinet.
The move comes after power regulator DERC (Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission) rejected the government's proposal to charge domestic rates for lawyers' chambers in courts across the city.
The Cabinet has also decided to authorise the Urban Development Department to handle MLALAD funds, Jain said. It comes under the District Urban Development Agency currently.
