Bishanpal, a habitual drinker, approached Narayan Singh in an inebriated condition for money last night following which a heated argument took place, they said, adding that the elderly died on the spot.
The accused allegedly confessed of committing the crime to his wife before fleeing, they said.
A complaint has been filed against him by his mother, who was at the residence of Bishanpal's sister at the time of the incident.
