Deutsche Bank, Germany's biggest lender, has circulated a video to employees, warning them not to do anything to tarnish the group's reputation, a spokesperson confirmed today.
"To be absolutely clear: our reputation is everything. It's not OK to brag or to be vulgar or indiscreet. That will have severe consequences on your career. I've run out patience on this," the co-chief of investment banking, Colin Fan, says in the video.
"Every communication which has the slightest chance of being interpreted as unprofessional must stop. Right now. Think carefully about what you say and how you say it," he continues.
"If you don't, it can have serious personal consequences for you."
The contents of the video, reported in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit, were confirmed by a bank spokeswoman.
"A new corporate culture is becoming apparent step by step at Deutsche Bank," she said.
"The language used in the video is purposely unambiguous and part of our ongoing programme," she said.
Deutsche Bank is currently undergoing a far-reaching shake-up following a series of scandals that have severely tarnished its reputation.
Its current co-chiefs Juergen Fitschen and Anshu Jain promised to change the corporate culture when they took over in 2012.
