Eyeing an unprecedented fourth consecutive victory in the upcoming assembly polls, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today accused BJP of making "unbelievable promises" to grab power.
She reminded people of BJP's reign when the party had to change chief ministers three times in a span of five years which "severely" affected governance.
Addressing a rally at Rohini in North West Delhi, Dikshit slammed the BJP for trying to "mislead" the citizens and asked people to believe in what they see and not in false promises.
"The earlier government had nothing to do with development and progress of the city. They changed three chief ministers during their regime of five years as they were all out to play with the sentiments of people. Today, they are making unbelievable promises.
"Their intention is to mislead people with an aim to harvest political gains," she said.
The Delhi BJP has announced that power tariff in the city will be slashed by 30 per cent if the party comes to power, besides promising to give flats to all the families residing in over 600 slums in the city.
"During BJP's tenure from 1993 to 1998, what was the state of Delhi? There was no electricity for up to 10 hours, there was huge water scarcity. They played with the sentiments of people of the city then and they are trying to misguide you again," Dikshit said.
