Unhappy over encroachments in the name of religion, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today recalled a personal experience when she decided to take things in her own hands and removed a religious picture put by someone in front of her South Delhi house that had started attracting a crowd.
"I have a small flat in Nizamuddin. One day we found out a religious picture beneath a peeple tree in front of our flat. Next day we saw people coming there....To deal with the possible encroachment, I along with my sister at 1 AM in the night removed the photograph, saying that God please forgive us," Dikshit said narrating the incident.
The Chief Minister described her personal experience when an industrialist at an interaction at PHD chamber of commerce sought government's help in removing a encroachment that has come up in the name of religion in Okhla area.
"At times, you should take initiatives on your own to deal with such problem. You should not always rely on police and authorities as they have other problems to handle," she said, identifying encroachment as a major problem facing the city.
