DyCM seeks to allay misgivings on Manipur Govt Bills

Allaying apprehensions in some quarters about the three bills passed by Manipur Assembly unanimously on August 31 last, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today said it (bills) would not hurt the interest of the tribal people.
Gaikhangam, who was speaking at the 42nd Foundation Day of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) at Manipur Press club, said there was danger in selective reading of the document instead of reading the whole content to the members of his own tribal fraternity.
"I appeal to them as one of them having been elected from tribal constituency in hill areas of Manipur," he claimed.

The DyCM also said that there were provisions in the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reform Act which forbid its extension to the Hill areas of Manipur.
The Deputy CM pointed out while the state had been inviting those opposed to the bills for talk, no one was ready to come forward for having talks with the state government.
