EC adjourns Piriyapatna poll following death of BJP candidate

Election Commission today "adjourned" to May 25 election in Piriyapatna Assembly constituency following the death of BJP candidate Sannamoge Gowda,
Gowda passed away last night after cardiac arrest.
BJP would now nominate its candidate for the segment, where the new last day of filing nominations is May 8.
All other candidates would remain the same, Joint Chief Electoral Officer T Shamaiah said.
Scrutiny of nominations would be on May 9, and the last day of withdrawals May 11.
Counting will take place on May 28.
Piriyapatna was scheduled to go to polls, along with 223 other segments, on May 5.
