The EC has also directed the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi to keep a close watch on all Punjab government premises in the national capital to prevent their misuse.
The EC directive comes in the wake of a Congress complaint about allegations of the presence of Punjab policemen in plainclothes in Delhi while trying to influence voters ahead of the elections here tomorrow. Congress has also accused the Punjab police of misusing the government machinery and premises.
"If any violation is found, drastic action should be taken," the order added.
AICC in-charge of legal cell K C Mittal had filed a complaint to the EC to this effect. A delegation of senior Congress leaders also met EC today and reiterated their charges.
The verification has been sought after EC forwarded the complaint of Congress to Delhi Police to verify if those living in Punjab Bhawan during the current election period are eligible to stay there and if the policemen are also staying there.
