Castorseeds bold and castoroil commercial also surged on hectic demand from shippers and soap manufacturers.
In futures, castorseeds spiked on bullish speculative demand following higher export enquiries.
In the edible segment, Groundnutoil climbed by Rs 10 per 10 kg to Rs 1,230 from Tuesday's close of Rs 1,220 and refined palmolein gained by Rs 3 per 10 kg to Rs 608 from Rs 605.
Moving to non-edible segment, castorseeds bold jumped by Rs 185 per 100 kg to Rs 4,075 from previous level of Rs 3,890 and castoroil commercial advanced by Rs 37 per 10 kg to Rs 845 from Rs 808. Linseed oil closed unchanged at Rs 830 per 10 kg.
Turning to futures, castorseeds for the September contract opened higher at Rs 4,460 and shot up to close at Rs 4,520 as against Rs 4,290 previously, showing a steep rise of Rs 230 per tonne.
