Election officials seize cash from retired officer in bus

Election officials today seized Rs 27.5 lakhs unaccounted cash from a retired Civil Supply Officer travelling by a private bus at nearby Attur.
The money, carried in a bag by the retired officer identified as Mani was found when flying squad officials led by Tashildar Srinivasan intercepted the Attur-Kallakurchi bus and carried out a search, officials said.
Though the passenger claimed it was his money deposited in a chit fund , he could not produce any supporting document, they said.
