Acting on a complaint registered by a
Chakradharpur-based contractor Gaurav Singh, a ACB team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amar Kumar Pandey conducted raid and arrested Shailendra Mandal, who was accepting Rs one lakh, all in notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, said Superintendent of Police (ACB), Manoj Kumar.
Addressing a press conference here, Kumar said Singh had bagged a contract for construction of a canal at a cost of Rs 30 lakh in Chakradharpur division and Mandal has been demanding ten per cent commission in lieu of signing an agreement for issuing a work order in this regard.
Kumar said the ACB team also conducted search in a flat in Ranchi owned by Mandal, a native of Pirpati of Bhagalpur in Bihar.
The ACB SP said Mandal was the 74th person arrested in the state this year.
