The crash also left the truck driver critically injured, a traffic police official said.
The 12 people aboard the van were on their way back home after a family trip when the tragedy happened, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted the official as saying.
The heavy rain that hit the city earlier today might have been one of the causes of the accident, the official said.
