A farmers organisation today condemned the decision of the Haryana government to "discourage" farmers of Uttar Pradesh from selling their wheat in Haryana grain markets.
"This step to stop the arrival of wheat from Uttar Pradesh is anti-farmer and should be revoked," Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) national spokesman Rakesh Tikait said here today.
Tikait also threatened to start an agitation against the decision.
The Haryana government recently decided to "discourage" wheat sale by farmers of Uttar Pradesh in its grain markets during the current wheat procurement season in a bid to avoid storage crisis in the state.
