Farmers try to barge into Mahyco office

Farmers, who were protesting against the substandard supply of BT cotton seeds, here today tried to barge into the Mahyco company office and resorted to stone-pelting at Ranebennur, some 30 km from here, police said.
About hundred farmers were protesting against the company, demanding compensation for their loss due to the poor yield last season, police said.
Farmers expressed their anguish against the company for not paying heed to their demand, police said.
They also said they as many as 48 farmers have been taken into custody following the incident.
