No casualty or injury was reported in the fire as the mall was closed when the blaze broke out, fire officials said, adding that the extent of the damage was yet to be ascertained.
The security guards saw smoke emanating out of the basement (lower ground) of the Food Baazar at 9.00 am. They tried to control the fire, but when they failed to do so, they called the fire officials, the mall's senior manager operation Brijesh Pandey said.
It took around three hours for the firemen to put out the blaze, which broke out due to a short circuit.
