Fire fighters to be positioned in collectorate

In a bid to prevent incidents of self immolation during weekly grievances day on Mondays, two personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department would be posted in the District Collectorate premises.
On the directive of Collector Archana Patnaik, the department has deputed two fire fighters with fire extinguishers--both to douse the fire due to self immolation or fire by other means including electric short circuit, official sources said.
There were many incidents in the past when people attempted to commit suicide by immolating themselves by dousing with kerosene or petrol in their bid to draw the attention of the authorities on their plights.
