The fishermen jumped into the sea on seeing the ship near the boat and were rescued by fellow fishermen onboard boats in the vicinity, Coast Guard sources here said.
The fishermen had been brought to Kozhikode, they said.
Coastguard has rushed two fast patrol vessels and a Dornier aircraft to the area.
Two or three vessels, including a Panama flagged Singapore-bound ship from Kandla, which were suspected to be near the area of the incident were under investigation.
