At the end of the fourth round, five players shared the lead in the Kotak Mahindra Bank International Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament with third seeded IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni leading the bunch.
Vikramaditya (ELO 2346) was followed by FM Akash Thakur (ELO 2297), Deepak Katiyar (ELO 2182), Likhit Chilkuri (ELO 1998) and Surpiya Joshi (1834).
All these players are on 4 points after as many consecutive round wins.
On the top board, IM Vikramaditya made short work of Raja Babu in just 30 moves from the white-side of Queen's Gambit Declined opening.
On board 2, Ketan Boricha (ELO 2129) made a mess of his opening advantage by blundering in time pressure against FM Akash Thakur in the Two Knight's Opening.
Parnali Dharia, who had created the flutter in round 3 with an upset win over the top-seeded IM Aditya Udeshi, continued her impressive run by holding IM-elect, Rakesh Kulkarni (ELO 2223) to a creditable draw in a game lasting 48 moves.
On board 4, Deepak Katiyar of Delhi stopped the winning spree of Atharva Godbole while lowly rated Supriya Joshi continued to spring surprises by defeating Satkar Chirag after an impressive win over higher ranked, Saumil Padhya.
The leaders are followed by Rakesh Kulkarni, Parnali Dharia, Purushothaman and Atharva Madkar who are trailing by half a point.
