Forest officer in ACB net for receiving Rs 25,000 bribe

A range forest officer who allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a local has been arrested by the Thane unit of the ACB here.
According to DSP ACB--Thane Range Datta Karale and Addl SP ACB Thane Range Shrinivas Ghadge, the officer -- Nilesh D Chandorkar -- was arrested last night after he made a demand of Rs 1.25 lakh from the complainant for not taking any action on the construction made by him on the forest land.
The 37-year-old officer was caught receiving a sum of Rs 25,000 as the first installment of the bribe from the complainant at the foot of the Yeoor hills at the forest check post near which the construction was done, ACB officials said.
Offences were registered against the official under sections 7,13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, they said.
In another trap, the ACB caught an Assistant Engineer and Assistant Line man of the Dhokali divison of the MSEDCL for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000.
According to ACB, the engineer Chandrashekar Deshmukh (54) made the demand for providing a new meter for power connection.
It was last evening that the assistant line man Jahangir Madar (55) accepted the bribe money from the complainant on behalf of the engineer and was nabbed by ACB sleuths.
