Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said the first mishap happened near Balguddar Bridge on NH-80 under Barahiya police station when a jeep laden with passengers collided with a mini-truck coming at high speed from the opposite direction.
Three persons traveling in the jeep died, while six others were injured in the collision.
Kumar said the deceased have been identified as driver of the jeep Raju Kumar, passenger Radha Devi (40) and an identified middle-aged man.
"The mini-truck was coming at a high speed from Lakhisarai to Barahiya and its driver lost control of the vehicle. It rammed into the jeep coming from Barahiya to Lakhisarai. The injured were admitted to the local government hospital," the SP said.
Irate locals blocked road in the area for some time after the incident.
