"Shamim Akhtar, 23, Sadiq, 21, Mohammed Salim, 25 -- all permanent residents of Bihar's Katihar district and 24-year- old Mohammed Uvesh, permanent resident of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh were arrested yesterday on specific inputs from DDU Park near Ranjit Singh flyover," a senior police official said.
With the arrest, police has solved the dacoity cum murder case which had taken place in a shop in Shakoor Ki Dandi, near Zakir Hussain college, in Kamla Market area on October 8, he said, adding also five cases of robbery and attempt to murder of Bihar have been solved.
Four country-made pistols along with 14 live cartridges have been recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused said they had tried to rob a handicraft factory owner one Mohammed Shaqeel as they had information that he keeps huge amount of money in his factory.
On October 8, they had attacked Shaqeel's unit at his residence and started beating his workers and looted a mobile set from him, two handsets from the workers and Rs 8000 cash at gun point.
"When they raised alarm, the accused tried to flee but one them was caught by one Mohammed Sultan Ahmed. The accused fired shots on Ahmed, who fell down while another man Nawab Ali who was present near the spot was injured in firing," DCP Central district Devesh Chandra Srivastva said.
The accused managed to escape after firing several rounds in the air. Ahmed was immediately taken to JPN hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
