Gang involved in credit card frauds busted in Delhi

Nine members of a gang allegedly involved in credit card frauds were arrested at a Delhi-based dummy call centre followed by a raid, police said today.
Gurgaon police raided the premises and recovered a laptop, 24 walky-set, 8 modem, 8 hard disk, 18 mobile phones with sim cards and other such equipments which were allegedly used to dupe card holders, police said.
The arrested youths are aged between 20-30 years and identified as - Akash, Bharat Kumar, Love Nayak, Naseeb of Delhi, Irfan of Andhra Pradesh, Prakash, S Raju, Shankar Gauri Kartik and Sikander of Tamil Naidu.
An investigation into the fraud was initiated based on a complaint by a Gujarat-based victim in February 2015 who was cheated of a large amount by the accused, according to police spokesperson.
On the basis of calls and other records, Gurgaon police traced a dummy call centre at Tagore Garden in Delhi from where the gang operated, he said.
The accused used to get confidential details like date of birth, expiry date, type of card, email address, etc of the card holders primarily from South India, police said.
The culprits mostly targeted card holders living in states like Tamil Naidu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
After obtaining the card details, they bought goods online using their credit cards, they said.
