The duo was arrested when, during pre-embarkation security checking at the domestic terminal, one magazine and two live cartridges of 7.65-mm were detected in the bag being carried by the woman, identified as Sudesh Kumari (50).
"She was also found to be carrying cash of Rs 2,76,340. She could not furnish any satisfactory reply about the money and also failed to produce any document in support of the ammunition," said Additional Commissioner Police (Operations), Ranvir Singh.
Pankaj's interrogation revealed that he is the elder brother of the notorious Bawana, who remains at large, and a member of his gang.
Several criminal cases, including a double murder case, were registered against him at different police stations. He was also wanted in a case registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), police said.
