BJP national secretary Tapir Gao today urged the Centre to allocate more funds to Arunachal Pradesh after ensuring that the central funds allocated for the last three years have been utilised properly.
Addressing a press conference here, Gao accused the Arunachal Pradesh government as a "financial criminal government" while claiming an overdraft of over Rs 3,000 crore posing tough challenge to the state.
He demanded the state government to make public the utilisation of funds given by the Centre under special plan assistance (SPA), additional central assistance (ACA), central sponsored schemes (CSSs), BADP, NEC and NLCPR and 13th Finance Commission grants for the period of 2011 to 2014.
Claiming that though over Rs 200 crore meant for PMGSY roads were diverted from the nodal banks to the state exchequer and spent while almost same amount remain unpaid to the contractors, he alleged that huge funds have been embezzled.
He urged the Union Finance ministry and Planning Commission to make the ministers and officers accountable for the fund misutilisation before allocating fund.
On possible solutions to the Chakma-Hajong refugee issue, inter-state boundary dispute, insurgency and illegal Bangladeshi immigrants' problems confronting the North East region and the state in particular, Tao quipped, "have faith in the NaMo government and expect things to move in positive direction. Lot of mechanism are being worked out for peace to rule.
