Gillard gifts rare Wollemi Pine saplings to Rashtrapati Bhavan

In her meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee, Gillard informed him about the plants and hoped these will flourish in the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex.

The tree was discovered in Australia in 1994 and with less than 100 fully-grown trees known to exist in the wild, Wollemi Pine is now the focus of extensive research to safeguard its survival.

In their meeting, Mukherjee and Gillard held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral and multilateral issues.
