Tyagi wrote a letter in this regard to Urban Development Minister Azam Khan and asked the state government to finance the metro project.
"Some councillors have levelled baseless allegations at BJP members that we are against the metro project," he said.
The GNN has to pay an amount of Rs 46 crore to the contractors and several projects have been affected due to the shortage of funds, he said.
Six city councillors, yesterday, sat on a dharna at the Nigam office demanding extension of Metro services in the town.
