Gorakhpur Book Fair focuses on women

In the backdrop of rising number of cases of crimes against women across the country, the current edition of Gorakhpur Book Fair is dedicated to empowerment of women.
The ten-day fair inaugurated yesterday at Kutchery Club premises here showcases several books elucidating the status of women in India and the world, with "empowerment" being the highlight.
The book fair from October 19 - October 29, also provides a platform to young and contemporary writers along with showcasing works of literary stalwarts such as Premchand, Vijay Tendulkar, Manu Bhandari, Maxim Gorky.
Works of local scholars and poets like Parmanand Srivastava, Ashta Bhuja Shukla and Ranjana Jaiswal are also available here.

Other than showcasing a wide range of books, interactive sessions with authors and several other competitions are attracting book lovers to the fair.
