Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said the coalition government in the state will continue and there is no problem in its functioning.
"The government will continue and there is no problem in the functioning," Soren, who accompanied his father JMM supremo Shibu Soren to Sindurigouri village under Hatgamariah Block of West Singhbhum district, said when asked about the fate of the state government.
"I will prove the majority, if required, on the floor of the House," he said.
Earlier, opposition parties including BJP and JVM had accused that the Soren-led government was reduced to minority following the resignation of two MLAs - Bidyut Baran Mahato and Hemlal Murmu, who have crossed over to BJP, as well as dismissal of Jharkhand Rural Development and Labour Minister Chandrasekhar Dubey.
To a query about the controversy between the state government and the Raj Bhawan over appointment of vice-chancellors of universities, Soren denied any controversy over the issue.
Asked about the rampant smuggling of iron ore from the mineral-rich Kolhan division, Soren assured the government has initiated adequate steps to curb illegal mining and would deal strictly with the culprits.
"We will initiate action on the pattern we did to control coal smuggling in the state and succeeded to an extent to check the illegal coal mining," he said.
Soren asserted that the government would not tolerate revenue loss at any cost and initiate all possible action in this direction.
