Govt official, wife robbed at gunpoint

A Central government official and his wife were allegedly robbed at gunpoint by some bike-borne assailants on National Highway 24 in Indirapuram area here today, police said.
The incident took place near Kala Pathar Crossing on NH-24 at around 8 AM when Bharat Pratap Singh, the official, and his wife Gayatri were returning home in an auto, they said.
Their vehicle was waylaid by the armed accused and the victims were told to get off it. Later, they looted jewellery worth Rs 1.30 lakh from the couple and fled from the spot.
A case has been registered in this regard, police added.
